The Dinh King Temple was built in the style of “noi cong ngoai quoc” (internal and external) right above the palace foundation of the previous Hoa Lu capital. Also in this area, the archaeological team dug up a brick courtyard with ancient lotus motifs and a pair of phoenixes playing with each other. On the surface of the bricks are the words “Dai Viet Quoc quan thanh chuyen” and “Giang Tay quan” dating from the Dinh – Le dynasties.

9. King Le Temple, Ninh Binh

About 300m from the Dinh Tien Hoang King Temple is the Le Dai Hanh King Temple. The temple was built to worship King Le Dai Hanh – the talented king who defeated the Song army, established the Tien Le Dynasty, and unified the country. In addition, the temple also worships other royal family members such as Queen Mother Duong Van Nga, King Le Long Dinh, Princess Le Thi Phat Ngan and General Pham Cu Luong.

The King Le Dai Hanh Temple Festival is usually held around the third lunar month every year. This is an opportunity for locals and visitors from all over to commemorate the heroic king and pray for a peaceful and happy new year.
